How can I contact you to ask questions?

We ask that you read through this website carefully before you contact us. If you still want to ask specific questions after that, you can call us at 575-322-5753. (This is a Verizon wireless mobile phone, so wireless communication charges will apply.) Please feel free to leave a message; if we haven't returned your call within 36 hours, please call us back.

I want a sulcata tortoise! Do you sell tortoises?

NO. We do not sell tortoises, nor do we adopt out tortoises. If you want a sulcata tortoise: Frankly, you're crazy. (Trust us. We have six of them. We're well beyond crazy here.) But if you're seriously crazy and still want a sulcata tortoise anyway, we suggest that you contact a local herpetological society or rescue group to find a tortoise, rather than buying one from a pet store. Click here to find a herp society in your area.

Will Sulcata Station adopt my tortoise for me?

Simply put: NO. The State of New Mexico has enacted a new law that requires special permits to bring in sulcata tortoises - even those originating from other states. We will work with The Rio Grande Turtle and Tortoise Club locally to help rehome unwanted sulcata tortoises already inside the state of New Mexico, but again, due to newly-enacted regulations, we prefer not to take in tortoises from out-of-state.

If you live outside New Mexico, we suggest that you contact a local herpetological society or rescue group to find an adopter for your tortoise. Click here to find a herp society in your area. We welcome the opportunity to network with other sulcata tortoise rescues and sanctuaries across the United States -- contact us via email!

My tortoise is very sick! Can you help me?

Please understand that it is impossible to diagnose health problems or injuries by email, particularly since we are NOT veterinarians. Therefore, if your tortoise is having an acute health problem, please take it immediately to a reptile-competent veterinarian. Sulcata Station has a VETS page to help you find a reptile veterinarian near you.

How can I join the Sulcata Station Yahoo Group?

If you want to ask questions and communicate with other sulcata tortoise owners, we recommend that you subscribe to Sulcata Station's group at Yahoo Groups. It's a great way to meet other sulcata owners, to ask questions, and to share your experiences with others.

This Link will take you to the Group's home page. Click on the blue button labeled "Join This Group!" You will then see a sign-in/registration page.

If you already use Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Groups, type your Yahoo ID and Yahoo password into the appropriate fields and then click the "Sign In" button

If you don't have a Yahoo ID, you can get one by clicking the "Sign Up" link at the bottom of the page. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the registration process.

Once you are added to the Group, you'll be able to send and receive group emails. If you would like to change your subscription to receive a digest version, or to read emails at the Yahoo web site rather receiving them via email, contact us via the list to help you change your settings accordingly.
